FRENCH: Meeting of Horsham French Club for October from 8pm to 10pm at Roffey Millenium Hall, Old Crawley Road. The club’s proceedings cater for a very wide range of abilities in the language. This Friday’s programme will feature a talk on Louis XIV’s mistress Madame de Pompadour as well as games, quizzes and ‘Actualités’ comment on current affairs. Free parking. BAND: The Sussex Band of the Royal British Legion (Horsham) will be in concert in aid of the Ashington First Responders and the Royal British legion poppy appeal at Ashington Community Centre Fosters Lane, at 7.30pm. CAKES: North Horsham WI are holding a cake and craft coffee morning in aid of Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Crawley Road, Roffey, on Saturday October 12 from 10am to 1pm.

JUMBLE: Plumpton Green Jumble Sale 2pm. Village Hall in aid of the Village Hall. Tombola, books, teas etc...

EMIGRATION: The West Sussex Archives Society Conference will be held at Wisborough Green Village Hall from 10am to 4pm. Susan Millard will talk on the Swing Riots, Alan Readman will present a history of the Emigration Scheme. Leigh Lawson will introduce letters written by emigrants in the 1830s and a selection will be read. Tea/coffee and biscuits provided but please bring a packed lunch. Members of WSAS £12.
