Chichester's new Lidl store opens for business - In pictures

Chichester's newest supermarket officially opened on Thursday morning (March 12).

Following a two-week delay, the Lidl store on Westhampnett Road, which has replaced the existing branch at Portfield Way, opened after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8am. Lidl GB’s regional head of property, James Mitchell, said: “We are delighted to have opened the doors to the new Lidl store in Chichester today. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we’re pleased to be serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.” The opening was initially scheduled for February 27 but, 'due to a delay in the completion of highway safety works' outside the store, it was pushed back by two weeks. 'Up to 20 new jobs' have also been created for the local community. In a post on Twitter this morning, Chichester District Council chairman Elizabeth Hamilton wrote: "About to start shopping after attending opening of new Lidl store in Chichester. Can report very good selection of reasonably priced goods including toilet rolls!"
