Commendation for Horsham Railway Station’s ‘superb modernisation project’

Network Rail and Southern Rail were recognised at the National Transport Awards for their joint work on the station.

The official revamp, which includes a new concourse, entrance, toilets and waiting rooms, was unveiled in November 2012 by Norman Baker, then under-secretary of state for transport.

Chris Burchell, Southern’s managing director, said: “I am very pleased that the hard work of everyone involved with transformation of Horsham station has been recognised in this way.

“The superb modernisation project which has transformed the station was designed to offer a 21st-Century experience while keeping the character of the iconic art deco building.”

“I’m particularly pleased for the staff at Horsham as they ensured that the customer experience they provided was welcoming, friendly and helpful during the works, especially while coping with some challenging circumstances at times.”
