No, there hasn’t been a flood in Littlehampton High Street.

It is one of two new ‘3D’ art installations by artist Jon Hicks, who helped design the Firefox logo, encouraging shoppers to visit Littlehampton’s town centre.

The pieces include local references and will stay over the festive period.

Jon said: “Optical illusions that work from one particular standpoint have become popular over the years. These pictures will make it appear that there is a hole in the floor, looking down on underwater scenes.”

He encouraged people to take photos with it and share them online.

“These illusions work particularly well in a photo, so they can be enjoyed and shared,” said Jon, adding: “I’ve done a few over the years and I was excited to create something for Littlehampton and doing something to brighten up the high street in these times.”

“I particularly like the way Jon incorporated local references which I am sure local residents will enjoy spotting.”

Vice chairman of the committee, Jill Long, said: “The artwork is very Instagrammable and would certainly add a ‘wow!’ factor to your feed, so be sure to use hashtag #La3Dart.”
