Campsites and caravan parks in England will be permitted to reopen from Saturday, July 4 but, Butlin's, which provides live entertainment and swimming pools, has been seeking further clarification.
A spokesperson for the resort, which had been scheduled to reopen its resorts in Bognor, Skegness and Minehead,on July 16, said: "Following the announcement last week from the government on the continued closure of pools and live entertainment, we have been waiting on further clarification on when and how we can open these facilities for you.
"Sadly we haven’t had a further update, and with some of your breaks fast-approaching, we have now extended the closure of our resorts to July 23. If your break has been affected, you will receive an email, SMS or letter from us asking you to fill in a form.
"If you haven’t heard from us, please head to www.butlins.com/resortupdates where you can find all of your options and details on next steps.
"For those of you who have breaks booked after July 23, we know this is an unsettling time. We’d like to assure you we continue to have discussions around opening soon, as we continue to explore different ways to bring you the Butlin’s experience we know you love.
"We'll give you a minimum of 14 days notice if there are any changes to your break and of course you also have the option of our Coronavirus Book with Confidence Guarantee."We know this has been a frustrating time for you all, and we thank you for your continued patience as we continue to work towards reopening our resorts and giving you all a well-deserved holiday."
It comes after Haven Holidays confirmed on Tuesday (June 30) that it will be reopening its doors to holidaymakers next week. Read more here
