We reviewed some of the new menu items at Nando's

I tried the new menu at Nando's in Worthing – there's one dish you shouldn't miss!

So popular is the national chicken chain, that going for a ‘cheeky Nando’s’ has become part of everyday language.

I’m not ashamed to admit that Nando’s is definitely ‘a bit of me’ and I’m always happy to visit one of its restaurants to get my usual (chicken pitta with lemon and herb sauce, peri peri chips and corn, if you’re asking).

But then, I saw advertising board outside the Worthing branch promoting Nando’s’ new menu… interesting, I thought.

The team kindly invited me along with my husband and kids last week to try out some of the new items.

Every time we visit Nando’s in Worthing I’m struck by how friendly the team is. And this visit was no exception. We were warmly welcomed and had everything explained to us.

Then it was time for some tough decisions. But in the end, there was one hero new item them called to three of us.

We love wraps, we love chicken, and we adore mac n cheese, so we couldn’t not try the peri-mac wrap. It’s chicken breast grilled in your favourite spice with mac & cheese, lettuce and peri-peri crumb, drizzled with peri-tamer.

I had lemon and herb on mine, and my children had plain-ish. We all loved the combo of chicken and cheese and the peri-peri crumb gave it a little bit of spice.

Plus it was really filling, especially when you have two sides with it! I plumped for chips and corn on the cob, my son had garlic bread and corn on the cob, and my daughter had garlic bread and creamy mash.

All the sides were delicious, and made for a super hearty meal.

My husband had 10 of the new extra saucy wings, which come with flame-grilled in your favourite spice and peri-tamer then drizzled with creamy yoghurt dressing. He loved how moist they were.

He opted for two sides with them and went for the brand new heart grains – warm mixed grains with green chickpeas, butternut squash and dried cranberries, tossed in lemon and oil and drizzled with our creamy dressing. We all had some and they were so nice. They felt really healthy but also so tasty. He also had chips.

We also ordered a couple of sides – the new pickle mix, herby pickles partner up with pickled cauliflower for a little pop and crunch. As a family of pickle-lovers, this was perfect for us.

And the halloumi sticks with chilli jam were a winner with all of us.

We were super full, but we were kindly gifted four of the pastel de natas to take home and eat later. We heated them for ten seconds in the microwave and they were delicious. A crunchy top, with cinnamon custard on the inside and buttery pastry.

It was such a nice family meal, with so many options for all of us. The new menu choices only add to the variety and we’ll definitely be back to try them again.
