Long-awaited post office finally opens its doors

Easebourne’s long-awaited post office has finally opened its doors this week.

The post office at Easebourne Village Stores was due to open in February but owners Vickey and Kirisha Mahadevan faced ‘frustrating delays’ due to ‘technical and organisational problems’. Read more here

Post Office said the opening was further delayed by the coronavirus pandemic as the ‘necessary staff training could not take place’.

Mr Mahadevan said it was a relief to finally be able to open the post office on Tuesday.

He said: “Customers have kept asking when we are going to be open.

“They have been very supportive for a long time. They are so happy.

“It’s great to finally be open.”

Post Office said the new business will be open seven days a week and has opened as part of an ‘exciting modernisation and investment programme’ across the network.

Graham Brander, Post Office change manager, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send
and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.

“We know how important our services are to customers, and are confident that this brand new Post Office that this brand new Post Office alongside Midhurst and Fernhurst will ensure that people in Easebourne have easy access to our services.”
