New dessert, coffee and brunch restaurant opens in Crawley - Take a look inside

A new restaurant offering desserts, coffee and brunch has opened at Crawley Leisure Park.

Heavenly opened its doors – at Unit 3B1, on London Road – on Saturday (September 5).

The Crawley venue became the first location to open under the company's new branding.

The chain, which previously operated as Heavenly Desserts, was founded in 2008 and has more than 60 restaurants across the UK.

The company said the rebrand reflects its expansion beyond desserts into coffee and brunch. The Crawley restaurant is run by franchisee Shivam Patel, who said around £450,000 had been invested in creating the new store.

He said the venue would also create around 15 local jobs.

“I'm really excited to be bringing Heavenly to Crawley,” Mr Patel said. “This has been a huge project for me personally, and we've invested around £450,000 into creating the new store.

“What makes it even more special is that Crawley will be the first Heavenly store to open following the brand's recent rebranding, so we're really proud to be bringing the new look and experience to the area.”

The restaurant serves a range of desserts including ‘bestselling’ croffles (a cross between a croissant and a waffle), crepes, milk cakes and the ‘inventive dessert tapas’.

Its brunch menu includes dishes such as masala toast, egg and beans, chorizo hash brioche and croffle Benedict.

The drinks menu includes tea, coffee and hot chocolate, alongside speciality drinks including a hot saffron latte.

To mark the opening, the first 100 customers through the doors received a free coffee.

The company also offered 50 per cent off selected items from its dessert and brunch menus on Saturday and Sunday, subject to terms and conditions.

Heavenly chief marketing officer Zain Hussein said the company had decided to launch its new branding in Crawley because of the growth of its brunch and coffee offering.

He said: “While we are proud of what we have achieved as Heavenly Desserts, and we have many, many loyal customers who love our sweet treats, we also know that many people come to us for so much more.

“Our customers across the country have been loving our expansion into brunches and coffee as well as desserts, so we thought it was perfect to unveil our new branding for Crawley.”

The new eatery is located within the large building, formerly occupied by the Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre.

It is one of multiple businesses planned for the site, alongside PureGym, PizzaExpress and children's activity and party venue Oxygen Active Play.

Observer readers have been having their say after visiting the new restaurant, over the opening weekend.

Hiral Patel wrote: “I tried this place – it is so good.”

Crystal Jones said: “Went there yesterday, it was delicious! And the staff were exceptional.”

Matt Lewis had a different view. He wrote: “It’s too busy there now. Opening more and more places with less parking.”
