Plan revealed for 200 new homes in Hailsham

Developers have put in plans for 200 homes to be built on land in Hailsham.
The 37 acre site is directly to the west of Station Road and east of the popular Cuckoo Trail.

In documents submitted to Wealden District Council, Barton Willmore LLP – on behalf of Gleeson Strategic Land Limited and Rydon Homes Limited – is applying for outline planning permission for 200 new homes with 35 per cent of them being affordable.

A new road from Station Road for cars, pedestrians and cycles is proposed along with open spaces, sustainable urban drainage systems and associated landscaping.

A spokesperson said in the statement, “Hailsham is a suitable location for growth and the site is a sustainable location for development.

“Wealden council cannot demonstrate a five-year housing land supply and there is therefore in principle a clear and compelling need for housing delivery across the district.”
