A number of social distancing and safety measures have been introduced at the museum, which has been closed for four months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The award-winning museum will be open from Monday to Friday inclusive but will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

To ‘control the number of visitors’, each day will be split into morning (10am to 1pm) and afternoon (2pm to 5pm) sessions and visitors will need to pre-book entry slot times at www.tangmere-museum.org.uk

A spokesperson said: “The museum is operating a one-way system to enable two metres social distancing and regrettably, in order to meet Covid secure requirements, access to our cockpits, simulators and touchscreen exhibits will not be available.

“Initially, on re-opening, the museum’s shop and NAAFI tea room will remain closed.

“No refreshments are therefore available but picnic tables are located in front of the museum.”

David Coxon, the museum’s deputy director, said there is still ‘much to see and enjoy’.

He added: “Because the day has been split into morning and afternoon sessions, there will be a reduced entry fee of £6 for adults and £3 for children – payment, however, must be by debit or credit card.

“The museum’s volunteers are really looking forward to the reopening and providing a warm welcome again to our visitors.”
