Update on parking issues in Cornfield Road
Disabled people have been left upset as spaces for blue badge holders are being taken up by able-bodied drivers and food delivery couriers because lines have not been painted in Cornfield Road.
The town centre improvement scheme – which saw a new road surface, layout and parking bays in the stretch between Bankers Corner and the War Memorial Roundabout – was completed some months ago but the signage and painting of lines has not been done.

The issue was highlighted last week by a disabled driver.
On Friday a spokesperson at East Sussex County Council said work was scheduled to take place this month (March).
The spokesperson said, “A specialised lining product is required to place lining on the granite areas in Cornfield Road.
“To lay this material a constant temperature above 10 degrees Centigrade is required; and as the lining work will require the road to be closed to allow the specialist road marking material to cure, the work will take place overnight to limit disruption to road users.
“Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to take place next month.”
