Officials have an announced a date when Eastbourne’s Sovereign centre will re-open.

The seafront leisure facility will open its doors to customers using the gym and fitness classes on Saturday July 25.

But it unclear when the swimming pools will re-open.

A spokesperson at Eastbourne council, which runs the centre, said, “Over the coming days, we will be in contact with members to update them about the strict hygiene and safety measures we have put in place.

“The Sovereign Centre swimming pools remain closed at this time.

“We are looking at all available options for how to reopen them safely, but will only recommence swimming when we are satisfied that it is safe to do so.

“Our number one priority is the wellbeing of visitors and staff.”
