ERG Air Pollution Control was presented with the 2026 award for International Trade at its headquarters, near Horsham.
Lady Emma Barnard, Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex and the King’s personal representative in the county, presented the award alongside Dame Shelagh Legrave, Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex.
Colleagues gathered for the presentation, with guests including West Sussex lieutenancy officer Paul Lagrave and councillor Joanne Knowles, chairman of Horsham District Council.
The award recognises ERG’s growth in exporting engineered air pollution and odour control systems to industrial and infrastructure customers worldwide, including major wastewater treatment sites in the Middle East.
The company has recently expanded into India through the creation of ERG Neev. Over the past 12 months, it has also developed its European business supplying plastic-lined pressurised reactor and scrubbing systems.
Over three years, ERG has invested in developing and testing biotrickling filter and catalytic activated carbon technologies for hot climates. These systems remove hydrogen sulphide and control odours, helping customers meet environmental requirements while keeping operating costs low.
Group managing director Richard Hanson said: “Receiving the King’s Award at our Slinfold headquarters is a proud moment for everyone at ERG. It gives us the opportunity to honour this achievement together and recognise the expertise, commitment and hard work of our team.
“Our international growth is built on understanding our customers’ challenges and engineering solutions they can depend on. We’re grateful to our colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners who have helped make this possible.”
James Scott-Bowden, chairman and business development director at ERG, said the ‘prestigious award’ is ‘very timely’.
"We continue to move forward, building on our strong position in the UK, and expanding our market presence in the Middle East and Asia,” he added.
“Such an important accolade demonstrates that we are achieving exceptional levels of product design and manufacture, with excellent levels of service for our valued customers.
“The increased credibility that this gold standard award gives ERG, is testament to our hard-working team who enable us to compete and thrive on the world stage. I want to thank them for their unwavering commitment as we all share this award and look forward to the increased momentum it gives us for the future.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise recognise achievement by UK businesses in innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility. ERG can use the awards emblem for five years.
