West Sussex restaurant named among top 100 in Britain - for second time
A West Sussex restaurant has been named among the top 100 in Britain – for the second year running.
According to new research from restaurant reservation site OpenTable, 40 per cent of people are planning to dine out to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, making it one of the most popular occasions for restaurant bookings.
And to help diners choose somewhere special, OpenTable has unveiled its annual Top 100, spotlighting standout venues across the country delivering exceptional experiences.
And among them is La Follia, an Italian restaurant based in South Harting at the foot of the South Downs, which is named among the Top 100 Brunch and Lunch Spots in the UK for 2026, after also being hailed as among the best last year.

La Follia – famed as ‘a small slice of Italy’ – prides itself on providing ‘beautiful seasonal ingredients, Italian store cupboard treats and the best coffee, all set among a wonderful world of mid century and antique pieces where everything around you, eat at, on and with are for sale.’
The restaurant says: “Our Cicchetti – small plates – are as big in flavour as they are small. Our hand made focaccia is sublime and the base for our sarnis and toasties.
“If you come in time for breakfast the La Follia Brillante Breakfast Roll and freshly baked Cornetti will win your hearts."
La Follia also offers a Friday evening Trattoria – pasta and pudding, side salads and antipasti and has a monthly pop-up 'Experience' Cena Italianas – traditional four course set menu suppers. Open Table senior director Sasha Shaker said: “Despite Mother’s Day being the biggest dining day of the year in 2025, 53 per cent of reservations were made within a week of the day itself.
“Our Top 100 Brunch and Lunch Restaurants for 2026 list takes the pressure off the 33 per cent of the UK who stress about finding the right spot. Whether mum is partial to a Sunday roast, brunch with bubbles or a fancy dinner, diners are spoiled for choice with this new list.”
