It has been owned by Peter and Joan Laws for more than 27 years but the couple recently decided to sell up and retire.

Christie’s says the new owners Luis and Zoe Teixeira are experienced in the pub industry, but the purchase of Yew Tree marks their first acquisition.

A spokesperson said, “It presents a great opportunity for them to take on a thriving business and implement fresh new ideas to take this successful business forward.”

The couple said, ““We are absolutely thrilled to have purchased the Yew Tree and cannot wait to get going. We are very thankful to the landlord we purchased from as well as Christie & Co for making this happen.”

James Hughes at Christie & Co handled the sale and said, “The Yew Tree is a quintessential English country pub. The pub received plenty of interest due to its great location and high sales. I wish the new owners all the best and I am sure they will do a great job.”

The Yew Tree was sold from an asking price of £775,000.
