Crawley: economic powerhouse of Sussex

Crawley was a village until the New Towns Act of 1946 designated it for major development - in parallel with Milton Keynes.

It has the most culturally and ethnically diverse population in West Sussex resulting from it rehousing large sections of London's overflow population post the second world war.

It houses the largest single runway - Gatwick Airport - in the UK.
