Director at Towner Eastbourne Joe Hill said, “We are so pleased to be able to reopen our galleries this summer and have been working very hard to ensure this is a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
“We very much look forward to our visitors having the chance to see the dazzling Alan Davie and David Hockney exhibition which has been specially extended to the end of the summer and to see so many of our collection works out on display.”
Mr Hill said during the time of getting used to the ‘new normal’ the community needs art and culture.

“For those who are still shielding, we have lots of digital content in store which can be enjoyed from home, including behind the scenes studio visits and special insights into our collection soon to be released.”
Exhibitions on display include works by David Hockney and Alan Davie, works in the Towner Collection curated by Caroline Lucas MP and a display of a Towner Collection work by Lawrence Abu Hamdan.
A Towner spokesperson also said visitors can enjoy the Towner’s ‘bright’, ‘cheerful’ outdoor work, Dance Diagonal, by Lothar Gotz, which spans the entire outside of the gallery.
Many more exhibitions are set to open in autumn.
