Eastbourne Borough complaint over trespassers for second time in less than two weeks

The club posted about the most recent incident on social media and said a football was taken while a dog warden was threatened.

A statement on the club’s Facebook page also said they believe there was clear intent to climb into the stadium without consent.

In the post, Eastbourne Borough’s commercial manager Sian Ansell, said, “Regardless of anything else that happens – whatever is climbed over isn’t designed to be – so will deteriorate or damage over time.

“There is a cost to us as a club to pay for CCTV cameras and the upkeep of them.

“The people that then have to watch the CCTV and talk over the tannoy when they should be relaxing with their families.

“The people who then have to attend the stadium to make sure nothing has been damaged and is once again secure - should be at home with their families.”

A spokesperson from Sussex Police said, “Around 8.40am on Monday (March 15), police received a report of trespass and public order at Langney Sports Club, Priory Road, Eastbourne.

“It was reported a group of young people were entering the grounds without permission, and were then verbally abusive and threatening toward the club’s dog warden.

“It happened around 7pm the evening before, on Sunday (March 14). Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 201 of 15/03.”

Eastbourne Borough was victim of another incident at the beginning of the month (March 6) when, according to club, the stadium was been broken into as a sealed doorway was smashed before a goal net was cut.
