Eastbourne cafe closes

An Eastbourne cafe has closed suddenly.

The Boat House in Princes Park has been closed for several days and on Thursday a notice appeared saying the venue was being renovated and would be reopening again soon as Perch in Princes Park with an ‘exciting new offer for Eastbourne’.

A website called Princes Perch says, “The award-winning Perch is taking over The Boat House and bringing a great new offer to the town. Serving up a great selection of cakes and fresh barista coffees. Giving a warm welcome to all including our four legged friends, so feel invited to enjoy a drink or stay for lunch, relax and enjoy time with family and friends in the beautiful Princes Park.”

The council owns the cafe premises but after a deal with brighton University’s hospitality department fell through, the Rajwani family who owned the Jazz Barbers group took over.

It was run by Salim Rajwani until his untimely death in May last year.

Eastbourne council has been approached for a comment.
