Eastbourne record store announces it is closing

The owner of Pebble Records in Gildredge Road said the decision was made due to ‘tough conditions’ on the high street taking its toll.
Michael Kerton said, “It’s been great fun to do it. We have met lots of lovely people and made new friends.

The online side of the business will continue trading at pebblerecords.co.uk, but the shop itself will shut by the end of March.
Michael said, “There’s the social part of it you miss when shops close. That’s what we are losing.”
But he said, “It’s been great, we have had a great time doing it. No regrets, it’s been fun.

In a statement on its social media pages, Pebble Records said there will be a 25 per cent off sale as the store prepares to wind down.
The post said, “It’s been an absolute pleasure and joy and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your friendship and support over the last six years.
“Life moves on and changes and I will have just lots of happy memories and new friendships to take away with me.”

Debenhams in Terminus Road closed on January 19, while the Curzon cinema shut for good just days before.
Nearby department store TJ Hughes also closed last year.
