HHDBA interns take first steps in working world

Haywards Heath and District Business Association is bidding farewell to its first two interns.

Rob Nankervis and Rob Gordon joined the association in October. They have worked with many of the HHDBA members including People Consultancy’ Cullen Scholefield and Mike Oliver Associates.

“Working with the HHDBA has greatly developed my understanding of business and what it takes to get a job,” said Rob Nankervis.

“It’s a big jump from university into a full time job - especially today,” Rob Gordon said. “But the HHBDA scheme has been fantastic helping me prepare for the transition, I know I’m far better prepared for the job market than I was before. The internship has given me a rare chance to get involved with, and make a postive contribution to, the local business community.”

HHDBA chairman Maureen Scholefield said: “I’ve always suspected that many more young people find getting that first full time job more much difficult than official figures suggest. This scheme has been very successful and it’s a big thank you to our members who have supported us.

“Now we’re looking out for our next interns, as well as some more host companies.”

Helping to run the scheme is internship coordinator, Hollie Dunster.
