Historic East Sussex pub listed for sale for first time in 19 years
An historic East Sussex pub 'at the heart of the community for generations' has been listed for sale for first time in 19 years.
The Old King John in Ore, on the outskirts of Hastings, is the village's only pub.
Sales agent Fleurets said the pub had been at the heart of the community for generations.
A spokesperson said The Old King John was “a well-loved locals' pub just outside Hastings Old Town, offering a rare opportunity for new owners to take the helm of this much-loved and thriving community establishment."

They added: "The attractive building, which opened as a pub in the late 1860s, features comfortable and classic bars, a welcoming free house atmosphere, and a reputation for good beer. The freehold interest is now available at the guide price of £415,000.
"This successful venue is known for its vibrant community spirit and traditional pub games, including cribbage, darts, and shove halfpenny. The pub's crib and bar billiard teams regularly compete in local leagues, reflecting strong local support.
"The Old King John also features a pleasant rear garden area and often wins the Ore in Bloom competition.
"It is a well-known stop on the Hastings live music circuit, hosting Sunday afternoon gigs by popular local bands, which are well supported by villagers and the wider Sussex public."
The current owners, who have run the pub for 19 years, describe it as more than just a pub. They say: "It’s the cornerstone of village life and a hub of the local community."
They have decided to move on, leaving the opportunity for younger owners.
Nick Earee from Fleurets said: "With its loyal local following, social scene, and rich heritage, it offers not just a business, but a chance to become part of the heart of Ore village life."
