Lewes brewery announces plans for premium boutique rooms to encourage more visitors to stay in town

Harvey’s Brewery has announced plans to create premium boutique rooms in Lewes.

The business said the eight en-suite rooms, which are now in development, will be above its brewery shop on Cliffe High Street.

Harvey’s said the project will transform part of the brewery’s former office space with the aim of bringing new life to the site while retaining a connection to its history in the town.

Chairman and managing director Hamish Elder said: “Having brewed on this site for eight generations, we’re very conscious of the history around us. This project allows us to preserve that connection while opening up a new chapter for the brewery. It’s an exciting step in broadening what we offer, and in welcoming more people to experience Lewes and Harvey’s.”

The development aims to complement the brewery tours by giving guests the chance to stay overnight. Harvey’s also hopes the new accommodation will contribute to the local economy by encouraging more visitors to stay in Lewes and support local businesses.

Harvey’s is working with JSA Architects, Cheesmur Building Contractors and interior designers Pfeiffer Design, and its office-based staff have recently relocated to their Depot site in Daveys Lane, Lewes.

The rooms are expected to open towards the end of the year and Harvey’s said it would update the public as the project moves forward.
