Littlehampton discount card launch voted ‘rousing success’ by businesses

THE launch of a Littlehampton discount card scheme proved its worth by raising roughly £200 for charity – in less than five minutes.

More than 30 business leaders and charity representatives chipped in to raise the cash during the launch of business partners Mark and Amanda Beauchamp’s Peel2Save discount card.

The money raised was then split equally between this year’s Littlehampton mayor’s charity fund and the Littlehampton-based charity, Enable Me, at the end of the event, that took place at the New Millennium Chamber in the Manor House, Church Street.

A total of 27 businesses from Littlehampton, Ford, Wick, Arundel and Rustington have backed the card, pledging special offers, from discount food and spa treatments to free gifts.

The card has 64 different offers, which have a combined value of roughly £350, and it’s hoped charities and other good causes will sell the card for £10, half of which they will keep for their funds.

It is already available at dizzy, Unit 14b, Brookside Business Park, Rustington, Inspire Leisure venues, and at Enable Me, The Dairy, Church Street, Littlehampton.

Mark said: “It’s a win-win situation. Good causes will sell the card and get a percentage of the proceeds and buyers will get some fantastic deals.”

Mayor Alan Gammon, who attended the launch, said: “This is a very admirable scheme that I’m sure will see a great deal of success in the future.

“I would love to thank everybody for all their generosity.”

Mark added: “This just proves how much everyone can achieve when they put their minds to it.

“In only five minutes we managed to raise roughly £200. Imagine what we could do in a month or even a year.”
