Man arrested in connection with fire at Eastbourne bookshop

Police investigating a deliberate fire at a bookshop in Eastbourne have arrested a man

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at Camilla’s Bookshop in Grove Road, shortly before 11.30pm on Wednesday (March 26).

Eastbourne Police say the fire is being treated as deliberate, and is being linked to another fire in nearby Ivy Terrace on Monday (March 23) in which a bin was set alight.

A spokesperson said, “A 44-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted arson with intent to endanger life.

“He has been released on conditional bail until April 23.”
