National firm closes one of its Chichester stores

A Chichester shop has shut its doors four months after it was saved from closure — but shoppers won't have to travel far for the nearest branch.

In late October, the former Thomas Cook branch in East Street was reopened to the public under new ownership and all staff members were ‘offered their positions back’, after Hays Travel bought 404 of the company’s collapsed network of shops.

Hays Travel, which is the country’s largest independent travel retailer, also has a shop in South Street and, up until now, both shops in the city were kept open.
