Saxon Weald has exchanged contracts with developer CALA Homes for the affordable housing element of the New Monks Farm development.

A total of 600 homes will be built at the site, along with a new IKEA store, land for a primary school and a 28-hectare country park.

Saxon Weald will deliver 75 affordable homes in phases one and two, including 45 for affordable rent and 30 for shared ownership purchase.

Stephen Humphreys, Saxon Weald’s Assistant Director – Development and Sales, said it was ‘a fantastic opportunity to provide much needed affordable homes in Lancing and help local first-time buyers get a foot on the property ladder’.

A further 105 affordable homes will be provided in phases three and four of the project, which will be tendered at a later date.

The development is anticipated to take four years to build.

Full planning permission for the site was finally granted earlier this year, more than a year after Adur District Council’s planning committee first approved the plans – read more here.

Building work is already underway at the site – see our photo gallery here.
