Plans submitted to Wealden District Council propose to change the ‘Go Platinum’ gift shop, in Eastbourne Road, into a hot food takeaway. If approved, there would be a six-metre extension into the rear courtyard to ‘create ample space for an open-plan kitchen’ - increasing the footprint of the site by 30 square metres. Parking and access would remain unchanged, the plans say. Access to the residential flats above would remain the same too.

Documents say: “The proposed extension will utilise the site footprint and courtyard better to accommodate a more suitable working kitchen for the applicant’s hot food takeaway business.”

Plans do not include details of what kinds of takeaway the applicant, Huiyu Qiu, would be opening if the proposal is approved. Members of the public can comment on the plans until November 1 (reference: WD/2022/2537/F).
