The plans, if approved, would see the new store built off Eastbourne Road.
A total of 118 car parking spaces would be created on the Aldi site including 7 DDA spaces, eight Parent & Child spaces, six electric vehicle charging spaces and 20 passive electric vehicle charging spaces. Additionally, there will be provision for eight customer cycle parking spaces and four staff cycle parking spaces and two PTW spaces.
Alongside the new Aldi, a new care home adjacent to the store has also been proposed.
The care home would encompass an area just under two acres, with a height of 13 metres over three floors, and the plans state the care home would house expected to house approximately 75 to 80 beds.
The application states: “The Aldi will compliment the other local amenities, creating opportunities for convenient, linked trips which support the daily life of residents.
"The proximity to the residential areas of Eastbourne Road and Polegate, ensures that it is possible for the store to be reached by residents without the use of a car, promoting sustainable developments and suitable travel methods.
“Consideration has been given to good accessibility for all, with clear routes to the entrance, accessible and parent and child spaces placed close to the store entrance and special trollies to allow for easy of movement within the site.”
