Popular Lindfield plumbing company aims to build directly employed team while passing skills on to next generation

A Lindfield plumbing company that has gone from strength to strength over the past 15 years has announced it is building a directly employed team.
C & G Plumbers Ltd, based at Yarrow Gate, said this ‘important moment’ for the company aims to ensure the consistent high quality and accountability that customers have come to expect.
C & G Plumbers is hiring bathroom fitters, A/C installers (F-Gas qualified preferred) and plumbers who share the company’s values.
Owner and founder Godfrey Muneri said that since about 2011 the business has built a reputation for reliable workmanship, respectful service and a commitment to Mid Sussex area.
Godfrey, 51, said: “I’ve seen myself grow from a ‘one man band’ to someone who people really rely on.”
He told the Middy that he moved to the UK from Zimbabwe in 2002. He lived in Brighton where he met his wife, before moving to Haywards Heath and then Lindfield.
Godfrey started the company after taking a plumbing course and becoming qualified in 2009. He said: “It really took off about a year or two later.”
C & G Plumbers has now earned more than 500 verified customer reviews on Checkatrade. It specialises in bathroom installations and refurbishments, as well as emergency callouts and general plumbing with a ‘no job is too small’ attitude. C & G Plumbers recently announced it is expanding into residential air-conditioning installations with heat pumps coming online soon.
The company also has a ‘people-first’ attitude and aims to create stable local jobs while helping residents make their homes more comfortable and efficient. Employees wear shoe covers to protect carpets and floors and aim to protect all surfaces during bathroom and ensuite shower projects.
Godfrey said he is particularly happy to have become friends with many of his customers in Lindfield and the surrounding area. He said: “Most of my work comes through word of mouth. I have got so many customers that I never thought I would have.”
Godfrey said he is proud of what he has achieved and for offering a reliable service, and he now wants to pass his skills on to the next generation. He said he has noticed a local training gap, explaining that colleges seem to prioritise gas engineering while bathroom installation and broader plumbing craftsmanship are in short supply. He said C & G Plumbers want to be part of the solution by offering real-world training and mentoring.
Godfrey said: “Because I’ve got my company now, and I’ve got quite a lot of work, I think the way forward is to give employment to the local boys and girls. That way I can then grow my company and provide some employment chances to other people.”
He said plumbing is an ongoing trade that is always going to be needed and called it a ‘brilliant opportunity’ for young people. In the near future he hopes to give talks at schools to help young people consider skilled trades as respected, well-paid and rewarding career options.
Godfrey added that over the past year, he had invested in his own development as a business owner, having been fortunate to connect with mentor Mike Green who featured on channel 4 The Secret Millionaire.
He said: “We have zoom meetings twice per week and his guidance on building and scaling my company helped me rebrand, refine our systems, and shift my mindset from ‘one pair of hands’ to a team mentality with standards. His mentoring has strengthened C & G Plumbers Ltd without changing who we are and reinforced the principles that matter most to us: consistent quality, accountability, and genuine care for customers.”
