Popular Seaford curry house announces date of closure after more than 40 years in town

A curry house in Seaford that opened more than 40 years ago has announced it is closing its doors this week.
Moon of India, at 18 Sutton Park Road, offers ‘a range of unrivalled fusion dishes’, according to www.moonofindia.co.uk, with an approach to healthy eating that aims to minimize artificial colours and additives.
It was the first Indian curry house in Seaford and has been established since 1978.
But the team, staff and management announced the restaurant’s upcoming closure on the New Seaford notice board on Facebook on Thursday, February 12.
Their post said: “Dear customers, We regret to inform you that Moon of India Restaurant, Seaford, will be closing from February 23, 2026. Appreciation for your love support and custom throughout the years. It has been a pleasure serving you all.”
The post confirmed that the last serving day would be Sunday, February 22.
The restaurant’s regulars left comments on the post, thanking Moon of India for its ‘wonderful meals’ and its Sunday specials.
The restaurant was struck by tragedy in February 2010, when Ahmed Remon Hayder, 27, known as Remon, was murdered in a flat in Sutton Park Road. The Sussex Express reported that Remon was looking after the Moon of India in Seaford for his parents while they were away in Bangladesh when he was attacked.
A jury found Shahadat Mollah Sohag, 22, of no fixed abode, guilty of murder and aggravated burglary on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Lewes Crown Court after a five week trial. His co-defendant Mohammed Anhar, 34, of East London, had pleaded guilty to murder and aggravated burglary. The Sussex Express reported that the killers would spend a minimum of 25 years behind bars.
