Top award for local roofer

Frank Clarke, Managing Director of Eastbourne-based roofing company Clarke Roofing Southern Ltd, has just been awarded a certificate and silver medal from The Worshipful Company of Tylers & Bricklayers at an award ceremony in London.

The award for Master Craftsman, Roof Tyler and Slater was presented to Frank at a prestigious ceremony held at Trinity House in London recently. This is the third medal ever awarded in this category since the company’s Royal Charter in 1568!

Frank is a keen supporter of training and development and will use his vast experience to guide and advise young people to attain the craft skills required to work on all modern and heritage buildings.

Frank Clarke said “It was a real honour to receive this award especially as it is rarely awarded in this category. I will most certainly be sharing my knowledge and experience with the younger generations and apprentices currently coming though the business.”

The Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers encourages excellence in the tiling and bricklaying industries and has awards for outstanding tiling and brickwork, as well as for individuals training for NVQs and higher qualifications in the craft.
