Jen, known as Charity Shop Girl, was given a tour of the Montague Street store before cutting the ribbon.
She has been partnered with the Worthing-based social care charity since December 2023 and has previously opened the charity's Goring Road Superstore and Donation Centre, its children's shop in Worthing's West End and the shop in Station Road, Southwick.
Jen said: “I've been a Guild Care fan for many years but over the last couple of visits, I've had the luxury of having a look at the services and this is why it's so important that we shop in these incredible charity shops, so they can keep doing the incredible work that they do.
“So, go in, have a rummage, spend some money and know that your money is going towards an incredible charity, Guild Care.”
The Montague Street shop first opened its doors on August 1 but Guild Care wanted to wait for Jen to be available for the official opening.
Store manager Donna Hide said: “We have had a wonderful response. People have been very complimentary about the shop and the prices. What I want from my team is wonderful customer service and to keep the shelves stocked.
“We don't have a lift to the first floor but we are happy to go upstairs and bring anything down for people who cannot manage the stairs.”
The former River Island store had been empty for more than a year before Guild Care took it over. There is more than 5,500 sq ft of retail space set over two floors.
The store is filled with clothings, accessories, shoes, bric-a-brac and homeware. Childrenswear and toys are available at Guild Care’s dedicated children’s charity shops in nearby Portland Road and Rowlands Road.
The charity has been providing trusted care and support to people in Worthing and the surrounding areas for more than 90 years. It supports older people, people living with dementia, and children and adults with learning disabilities to live well and enjoy life.
