11-year-old Daisy Bell Inspires care homes across Sussex

Daisy Bell, aged just 11, is already making a remarkable impact within the care sector. Having begun her journey from a young age at The Anchorage Care Home in Pulborough, Daisy’s work has now expanded across the entire Premium Care Group, where her passion, empathy, and creativity are helping to transform the way care is experienced.

In recognition of her outstanding contribution, Daisy was recently awarded the Saxon Weald Youth Award, celebrating her dedication and positive influence within the local community. This follows her Special Recognition in Care Award from PCS in February 2025, marking her as one of the youngest ever recipients and highlighting the extraordinary difference she continues to make.

Daisy is now leading an innovative initiative titled “Through the Eyes of a Child”, a programme she designed to bring fresh perspective, warmth, and understanding into care environments. What began as a small idea at The Anchorage has grown into a group-wide movement. All 10 care homes within the Premium CareGroup now have Through the Eyes of a Child Programme Stars, young people who have met Daisy and are working closely with her on projects and ideas that are making a real and lasting difference to residents’ lives.

The programme encourages residents, families, and staff to see daily life in care through a child’s viewpoint, fostering connection, joy, and meaningful change. By introducing honest feedback and shared experiences between children and residents, Daisy is helping to bridge generations and enrich the lives of everyone involved.

Daisy said: “The Through the Eyes of a Child programme is for children to give us an honest and unfiltered true reflection of a child’s view of our care homes. I make surveys for the children and residents to do together, and we then give them to the managers to help them see what we do. It’s really exciting and I know that this programme is going to make a real difference. The children from our other homes are so lovely, I have really enjoyed meeting them all and hearing their ideas, and we chat all the time. It’s going to be great this year, I’m really proud.”

Daisy Bell is proof that inspiration knows no age. Her achievements are not only reshaping experiences within care homes, but also setting a powerful example of what young people can achieve when their voices are heard and encouraged.
