Care home residents paid a visit by Bognor Regis and Chichester Air Training Corps

Residents at Westergate House care home, Fontwell, welcomed cadets from Bognor Regis and Chichester Air Training Corps for a special visit.

According to Westergate House, the cadets were “fantastic”, engaging with residents from all three of its communities. These include residential care, dementia care and respite/short stay care.

“It was heart-warming to see such positive conversations, with shared stories along the way,” the care home said.

A highlight of the visit was residents who previously served in the Royal Air Force having the opportunity to connect with younger cadets through a shared love of aviation.

Phil, a resident who worked as an Air Force pilot, for example, was able to share memories with Roy, who is just at the beginning of his career.

Paul Middleton-Russell, senior general manager at Westergate House, said: “A huge thank you to all the cadets and their leaders for taking time to visit us at Westergate House and make such a positive difference to our residents’ day. It is always wonderful to hear about our residents’ previous careers, and these stories come to life when guests visit the home and share similar interests and experiences.”
