A tattoo artist based in East Grinstead has been announced as a finalist at the UK Women’s Business Awards and at the UK Small Business Awards.

Levi Duvall-Lang, known as Levi Fawn Tattoo, has been tattooing for over 12 years, after starting her apprenticeship at 21.

She opened her first studio in 2016, and has built her business alongside becoming a mum to two boys.

Now working from her own private studio in East Grinstead, Levi described how the last couple of years have been some of her hardest in business.

After dealing with a major flood at her previous premises, alongside experiencing many personal issues, she debated whether to give up her art all together.

However, after attending the London Tattoo Convention she came home deeply inspired and decided she was going to stop hiding away and see what happens.

“Since then it’s all gone a little bit mad!”, said Levi.

She’s become a ambassador for Global Tattoo Magazine after receiving a spotlight featural in Ink Revolution Magazine and is now a national awards finalist.

Levi is a finalist for Creative Business Woman of the Year at the UK Women’s Business Awards, as well as a finalist for Best Tattooist and Best Small Business at the UK Small Business Awards.

“I think the nicest part for me is that I’ve spent so many years quietly getting on with my job, building my client base and trying to create something I’m proud of, so having people suddenly recognise what I’ve been doing feels quite surreal”, she said. “Especially after such a difficult period, it really does feel like things are finally coming together and at the moment it's a mixture of excitement, overwhelm and just pride really.

“I’m also incredibly proud that I’ve managed to build a creative business locally while raising my boys.

"I’d love for my story to show that small independent businesses can go through some really difficult periods and still come out the other side and achieve things you perhaps never expected.”
