Family Fun at Midhurst's 'Around the World in 80 Maze' summer adventure

Cowdray Estate in Midhurst has opened its annual Maize Maze for the summer, with this year’s event taking visitors on an ‘Around the World in 80 Maze’ adventure.

Inspired by the classic novel, the maze features landmarks representing Egypt, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and more, with guests invited to complete a stamp trail as they make their way through the attraction.

Maze manager Nick McDonald said: “We’ve had a fantastic opening weekend, with glorious weather and the busiest start to the Maize Maze we’ve ever seen.

“Despite the challenges posed by the dry conditions this summer, the maize, flowers and sunflowers are looking wonderful. It was incredibly rewarding to see families exploring the maze and enjoying everything the team has worked so hard to create.

“We’re now looking forward to welcoming around 12,000 visitors over the coming weeks and making this our biggest and best season yet.”

Visitors can also enjoy panoramic vistas of the surrounding scenery from the estate’s viewing bridge, while a sunflower and wildflower picking patch offers the chance to take home a hand-picked bouquet for £5.

Alongside daytime activities, Cowdray Estate is hosting ‘Friday Nights at the Maze.’ Starting at 6.30PM, the evenings include access to the maze, flower picking and live acoustic music.

Each Friday features a different culinary style served by the estate’s Yellow Kitchen Team, in keeping with the ‘Around the World in 80 Maze’ theme.

Daytime tickets cost £8.30, while Friday night tickets are priced at £12.50.
