CIRCUS SKILLS GRADUATION DAY was celebrated at East Sussex School of Circus Arts based at Knockhatch Adventure Park last week.

Local dignitaries and other special guests were present to enjoy the event which year on year delivers a spectacular show by the students. Attended by the BBC and ITV the spectacle provided much welcomed exposure for the students and ESSCA on TV later the same day for the TV companies’ uplifting “And Finally” sections.

The students were judged and given advice by industry professionals to take forward in their careers from Debbie and Alex Adams, Owner Directors of the Royal Hippodrome Theatre and Trapdoor Theatre School, Actor Bill Fellowes best know for his role as Stu Carpenter in Coronation Street and Mike Taylor from Circus Friends Association, Attila Endresz from and with the 7th generation John Lawson’s circus family. The four students performed two disciplines each and were awarded individual trophies for Stephanie Street – Best Aerial Act, Summer Spice - Best Ground Floor Act, Jada Lynch – Judges Choice and Alisha Bristow – Student of the Year.

Mayor of Polegate, Cllr Dan Dunbar, said, “The students put on a first class performance displaying all the skills they have developed over the last year. It’s clear from the professional performance their dedication to mastering their skills to deliver such a creative show which inspired all the audience. Congratulations to you all on your achievements. This was the first graduation since the school has achieved accredited status and is testimony to the hard work and dedication of all the staff involved.”
