“Plastics are a significant part of our daily lives, but not all plastics are created equal when it comes to recycling. Incorrect disposal can lead to contamination, making entire batches of recyclables unusable. In Wealden, over 1,000 tonnes of household waste were rejected from recycling centres due to contamination. By understanding what can and can't be recycled, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future… Cutting down on the amount of plastic you use is one of the most effective ways to help. Choose loose fruit and vegetables instead of pre-packaged ones. Carry a reusable bag and say no to single-use plastic cutlery or straws when possible. Switch to refillable bottles or bar soaps to reduce plastic packaging.” If you are not sure what items to recycle Wealden.gov.uk have a useful Recyclopedia tool which you can use to find out how you can recycle, reuse, repair or dispose of household items in Wealden. See: https://www.wealden.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/recyclopedia/

Paws For Thought. The post box topper on Station Road has been made in aid of Canine concern, a dog charity who provide care-dog visits to care homes, hospitals, schools, and work places. “Canine Concern, was established in 1988 by Eve Waring, who had seen how important dog visits were to the elderly and lonely.” The medical profession endorses the charity’s findings “that allowing animals, especially dogs, into hospitals brings comfort to long-stay patients and those vulnerable to loneliness and depression.” If you like this topper please consider making a donation. Please take a picture of your dog next to the post box and email to: [email protected] so that they can share this on their social media. This topper has been made for the local community to enjoy and to raise a few smiles. Please enjoy and do not remove or damage.
