Let It Glow continues to shine: hundreds of children enjoy Chichester’s new winter light experience

Chichester’s newest festive attraction, Let It Glow, has already captured the imaginations of hundreds of children and families since opening on 8 December - and with one full week remaining, visitors still have plenty of time to experience the city’s most magical winter installation to date.

Transforming the Cathedral Green into a vibrant playground of light, sound and creativity, Let It Glow is a free, hands-on digital art experience inviting people of all ages to create illuminated artwork that instantly appears on the ancient Bell Tower.

Running every evening until Sunday 21 December, the installation has quickly become a favourite festive outing for local families, schools and visitors from across the region.

Created by award-winning arts and technology collective MakeAmplify, and presented by Chichester BID, Chichester City Council and Chichester District Council, the experience has been made possible through support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and generous sponsorship from Mayo Wynne Baxter.

A Light Experience Shaped by the Community

Inside a covered marquee on the Green, children and adults can use iPads to paint with light - choosing colours, patterns and shapes that then appear, seconds later, on the Cathedral’s Bell Tower. Every contribution becomes part of a constantly shifting artwork, ensuring each evening is different from the last.

Visitors can also explore a series of glowing outdoor installations around the Green, creating a playful trail that has delighted younger audiences throughout the first week.

A Bright Boost for the City Centre

With strong attendance already recorded, Let It Glow is encouraging people to stay longer in the city, explore local businesses and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Natasha McLeod, CEO of Chichester BID, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response so far - hundreds of children have taken part, and their creativity has brought extraordinary energy to the Cathedral Green. Let It Glow is all about participation, imagination and accessibility, and we’re thrilled families are embracing it. With another week ahead, we hope even more people will come and help light up Chichester.”
