Local MP Andrew Griffith given top job in opposition cabinet
Andrew Griffith, Member of Parliament for Arundel and South Downs, has been appointed to Kemi Badenoch’s Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade.
Mr Griffith will cover a wide brief from small businesses and pubs to the scrutiny of international trade agreements and new employment legislation.
The role follows Mr Griffith serving in a number of roles in government including as Minister of State for Science, Research and Innovation and Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Griffith said:

“I’m pleased to have been appointed Shadow Secretary for Business and Trade as it has always been a passion for me to stand up for the sort of brilliant businesses here in West Sussex.
Britain’s businesses need a government that has their backs, not one that brings them down. From the self-employed to high street shops and pubs to global British brands, I am committed to giving businesses the voice that they deserve”.
Griffith spoke in the House of Commons in his new role on Wednesday, speaking for the official opposition in the Budget Debate following announcements of higher rates of National Insurance, Business Rates for the hospitality and leisure sector, and inheritance tax on farms and small businesses.
