MP visits Glenleigh Park Primary

As part of election week we were delighted to invite Kieran Mullen MP and the High Sheriff to Glenleigh Park Primary Academy.

Over the last two weeks, Glenleigh Park Primary Academy has been a hive of excitement and activity as almost 80 children from year 1 to 6 put themselves forward to run for school or eco councillor for their class.

Children created posters to share why they should be voted as their next class councillors, wrote and delivered speeches before visiting the ‘Glenleigh Polling station’ to cast their vote.

On Monday, November 18, children were joined by the High Sheriff of East Sussex in a special assembly where the elected school and eco council members were announced by Miss Sargent, Assistant Headteacher and School Council Lead.

In addition to the election excitement, children had the opportunity to meet with Kieran Mullan MP during his visit to the school on Friday, November 22.

During the visit, Kieran Mullan MP took the time to answer questions from the School Council members, offering advice on leadership, responsibility, and how to get involved in local and national decision-making processes.

Ms Barnard, Head of School said: "I am delighted with the number of children who have put themselves forward for these positions within our school.

"The children who have been elected have shown real leadership qualities and will be able to make a real difference to our school through both the school and eco council."
