Sussex Emmaus calls for new trustees to help tackle homelessness

The charity is looking for candidates with experience in charity governance and the skills necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of a trustee. Sussex Emmaus is keen to hear from individuals with expertise in:

• HR and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
• Fundraising
• Marketing and Social Media

Ideally, applicants should be based near Portslade to enable regular visits to the charity and build strong relationships with those supported by Emmaus (known as companions) as well as staff, and volunteers.

Jacquie Findlay, Chair of Trustees at Sussex Emmaus, said: “Being part of Sussex Emmaus is extremely rewarding. Witnessing companions who have experienced homelessness rebuild their lives with a safe place to live, new skills gained through our social enterprises, and a renewed sense of purpose within the local community is truly inspiring.

“Each of us has unique skills that can make a difference to those in need. By becoming a trustee, you can dedicate your time and expertise to positively impact the lives of people rebuilding their futures. We encourage anyone in the local community who shares our vision to consider joining us.”

Sussex Emmaus offers up to 58 people who have experienced homelessness a place to call home, training, support, and work opportunities in its social enterprises.
