The Armed Forces Covenant is a national pledge that guarantees fair treatment for those who serve or have served in the UK’s Armed Forces, as well as for their families.
Built on two core principles, the Covenant ensures that members of the Armed Forces community should face no disadvantage when accessing public or commercial services and that special consideration is given to those who have been injured or bereaved.
This commitment shapes policy, strengthens service delivery, and can be championed by individuals, businesses, and organisations across the country.

The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2021 to show its support for the armed forces community, a commitment that builds on its long-standing connection to the military.
By signing, UGLE pledged to provide support in areas like education, housing and healthcare to members of the armed forces, veterans and their families, ensuring they are not disadvantaged compared to other citizens.
This commitment is part of a national promise and allows UGLE and its members Provinces to be recognised under the UK.
