With the autumn colours at their vibrant best here are a couple of ways to enjoy Sheffield Park and Garden in all its glory.

Famous for its autumn colour, this is the season the garden was planted for. Arthur Soames, owner during the early 20th century, introduced many of the species which create this spectacle including Nyssa, Acer and Taxodiums. The reflections in the lakes add to the splendour and provide the perfect photograph. The autumn planting is recognised as being of international importance; so much so that the garden has received a Grade I listing.

Sheffield Park have teamed up with two experts to create special events to help you enjoy the beautiful park and garden over the next week.

Spend the day perfecting your photography skills at Sheffield Park’s Autumn Colour photography workshop. With access before the garden opens, the workshop begins with a chance to use your camera in the peace of the garden in the early morning light.

As the day progresses, this course led by professional photographer, Roger Bloxham, will allow you to add to your knowledge base, develop a range of photography skills and try out new techniques with fellow enthusiasts.

The course runs from 8:00am-12:30pm on 30th October, with a hot drink and a slice of cake included in the price which is served at the end of the session in the Coach House Café.

The price is £40.00 and includes garden entry.

As the autumn colours change, join professional forager Megan Howlett on a foraging walk and talk across the 120 acre garden, learning what the season has to offer. Deep dive into the world of wild food and learn the myths, folklore, history, medical uses and edibility of common and unusual wild food as you forage. Gain a newfound appreciation for edible plants including fungi and berries, no walk will ever be the same again!

This experience is on 3rd November at 1.00pm-4.00pm and costs £42.00

This is an adults only event and the route will cover areas of rough terrain that are not suitable for wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
