Kenneth, who grew up in Bognor Regis and previously lived in Brook Gardens, Emsworth, turned 100 years old on October 21.
To celebrate the centenary, Willow Lodge invited family, friends and neighbours to join them for a party – which was even attended by a fellow ex-naval serviceman.
Kenneth joined the Royal Navy as a young man, becoming a crewman on HMS Implacable. He was part of the team to collect POW (prisoners of war) held by the Japanese army during World War II, and has since been on parade as a proud VJ Day veteran.
Jason Webb, deputy general manager at the Royal Navy museum and ex-naval serviceman, attended the party. He presented Kenneth with a book from the Royal Navy and a framed photograph captured from the deck of the HMS Implacable – most likely taken at a time Kenneth was serving onboard.
Alongside the many friends and neighbours, Kenneth’s daughter Christine and her husband were there to celebrate, having travelled all the way from the US to do so.
Lynn Tyne, activities coordinator for Willow Lodge care home, said: “It was our pleasure to help Ken enjoy his special day with his friends and family.”
