A secondary school in Bexhill has been closed for two days due to a rising number of Covid-19 cases.

Bexhill Academy, in Gunters Lane, Bexhill, will be shut today (Thursday (November 19) and Friday (November 20).

This is after a number of Covid-19 cases were reported within the school community.

The school will be closed for two days so a deep clean of classrooms and social spaces can take place.

Catherine Davies, executive principal, said: “I am writing to inform you that due to the additional cases of Covid-19 identified by the school over the last few days, the senior leadership have taken the decision this evening to close the building for all students for two days. This is for the purpose of undertaking a deep clean of all classrooms and social spaces.

“During the remainder of the week, lessons will continue to be delivered as normal on-line via google classroom. Please support your child to access this virtual classroom during normal school hours. Teachers will be available for students to contact via google classroom.
