Sport Relief Mile at The Littlehampton Academy

STUDENTS at The Littlehampton Academy were quick off the mark for Sport Relief.

About 200 determined year-seven students, all dressed in red, relished taking part in the Sport Relief Mile challenge at the school.

Youngsters, some wearing wacky wigs, clothes and face-paint, took to the rugby pitch, to prepare themselves for the charity jaunt around the field.

With a cool breeze helping to guide them on their way, all of the fun-runners managed to complete their mile-long jog, some struggling with fatigue at the end, but others pushing themselves further to literally go the extra mile or two.

One student, who was sponsored for every mile he could complete, stunned teachers and fellow runners as he managed to tot up an impressive seven miles, before being calling it a day.

PE teacher Richard Hanks was amazed at the level of enthusiasm shown by all the students during the event and praised them for all their fund-raising spirit.

Mr Hanks said: “It was a brilliant day.

“I just couldn’t believe how many students got into the spirit of it.”

Pictures from Sport Relief events which took place at the end of last week will be published in this week’s Littlehampton Gazette (out Thursday, March 29).
