Coronavirus: events cancelled across Mid Sussex while public spaces close

Events across the Mid Sussex area have been cancelled and postponed while public places are closed in efforts to prevent further spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Burgess Hill Lions announced on March 17 that its ‘Book Den’ will be closed until further notice to safeguard volunteers, asking that book donations are not left during the closure period.

The Haywards Heath Horticultural Society has cancelled both its talk on Thursday (March 19), and the Spring Show set for April 4.

A spokesman for the society said: “With the latest recommendations from the government, we are very disappointed but want to put health first.

“Let’s hope we get this under control before the summer hits.”

Lindfield United Reformed Church has postponed the Tea and Tunes concert set to take place on March 28 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

An open day set to be held on Saturday (March 21) at Burgess Hill Girls has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more about the event here.

The circular route throughout Mid Sussex was planned to take place on Sunday, March 29, to help raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The South of England Classic Motorcycle Show and Bikejumble, which was set to take place at Ardingly on Sunday, March 29, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more here.
