A spokesperson said, “Like many other care homes in the local area, we now have our first small number of positive Covid-19 cases within the home.

“We are devastated as we had remained virus free for the last 10 months due to the amazing, dedicated team of staff here at Chaseley who continue to do everything they possibly can to contain the outbreak.

“We continue to follow our excellent infection control protocols established since the beginning of the first lockdown and are liaising with Public Health England.

“We are incredibly lucky to have the support of our staff, residents and their relatives at this time. Since breaking the news we have received many supportive comments.”
